There are moments for riding and others for choosing a safe path. This morning, we returned to the spot 20 miles north of Gillette where we stopped last night, hoping the crosswinds we encountered at the end of the previous day would lessen early on. We set off and rode two miles in a 30 mph crosswind with 40 mph gusts, realizing it was unwise to continue as we were being pushed hard toward the road's center. We loaded the bikes onto the rack, skipped 18 miles of the route, and resumed in Gillette, where the route headed directly east.

We then covered 76 miles to Hulett, ascending about 2,600 feet. We enjoyed strong tailwinds and occasional crosswinds, which were still quite uncomfortable, but we completed the miles safely!

We took a lunch break in Moorcroft at the Tin Cup around mile 30, and near the 60-mile mark, we entered the Devil's Tower National Monument park. What an amazing geological site! A pleasant early lunch and the sightseeing at Devils Tower, both helped split up the ride. Not much else on our ride today even if we wanted to stop. Amenities are quite sparse in this part of Wyoming!

To date, in 22 days, we've traveled over 1,500 miles for the puppies at The Seeing Eye, help us support the puppies as we raise awareness and work hard to share the story of guide dogs and the independence they provide to the visually impaired and blind! Click on the donate link here on our website and help us make a difference!
